SPREE Magazine

Los Angeles’ favorite gay magazine of the 70s was the Society of Pat Rocco Enlightened Enthusiasts.

SPREE was a major source of gay culture in the 70s and put on quite a lot of community events and gay liberation protests in the era.

No one was immune from the pornographic gaze of Pat Rocco, least of all himself.

A devout nudist, Rocco often appeared in his own film and magazine productions and ran a nudity friendly gay boarding house in Los Angeles.

Rocco made many films which he showed in LA before distributing on 8mm through SPREE’s readers.

Spree also published his famous “I Love LA” series of nudes in front of famous Los Angeles landmarks as well as a lot of advertisements and community oriented material throughout the 70s.
